Friday I – 8:30 a.m.
Technical and financial assistance is available from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to implement conservation activities on organic farms. The presentation will describe program eligibility, how to apply and payments, with a focus on the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), including the Organic Initiative. The workshop will discuss the broad set of conservation practices available through EQIP, highlighting those which can assist organic producers in meeting resource concerns and fulfilling many of the requirements for certification such as: establishing buffer zones, improving soil organic matter, developing a grazing plan, and nutrient management.
