Many producers are looking for ways to extend and improve the pasture-growing season. Recent inclement weather has also strained pasture productivity and feed reserves. Annual forages are one option for addressing these production issues. Summer annual forages; including millet, sorghums, sorghum-sudans, and teff can be important complements to pastures during the summer slump as well as harvested for stored feed. Cool season annuals including cereal grains and brassicas can help extend the grazing season and allow for early season forage production. Join Heather Darby in a discussion of strategies for planting, harvesting, and feeding these forages to organic dairy cattle.
