Organic Pest Management in Fruit Crops

Workshop audio recording from the 2016 MOSES Organic Farming Conference.

Jim Koan and Jim Riddle
Saturday 3

Learn how to use organic and cultural approaches to manage insects and diseases in fruit crops. We’ll share specific examples for apples and blueberries, plus, offer helpful tips for dealing with the pesky spotted wing drosophila and the smelly brown marmorated stink bug.

Jim Koan and his wife, Karen, are the fourth generation to run Almar Orchards, an organic operation set on 500 acres in central Michigan. They have over 30 varieties of apples.

Jim Riddle and his wife, Joyce Ford, own Blue Fruit Farm in Winona, Minn. They grow  perennial, high-value fruits—blueberry, elderberry, black currant, blue plum, serviceberry, and aronia.
