Off-target contamination due to spray drift is a challenge when growing sensitive organic crops. Collecting data is key to calculating and documenting the economic damages that result from a spray incident. Learn how to proactively protect your farm as well as how to respond to drift incident. Paul Dietmann works with Badgerland Financial, leading the beginning farmer and emerging markets loan programs. He worked 16 years with the State of Wisconsin, and was the state’s Deputy Secretary of Agriculture in 2010. He is co-author of the book Fearless Farm Finances: Farm Financial Management Demystified.

Noreen Thomas and her family farm near Moorhead, Minn., on a fifth-generation family farm. The certified organic 1,200-acre farm produces hay for Organic Valley, barley, blue corn, rye, soybeans, oats and wheat. They also grow local produce for restaurants, farmers’ markets and health food stores.
