Peter Ruegemer, Ruegemer Organic Dairy
Saturday I – 8:30 a.m.
If you’re a farmer, you’re a problem solver. Adding robotic milkers to your operation adds a new dimension of technical problem solving to organic dairy farming. The Ruegemer family of Villard, Minnesota, installed two DeLaval robotic milkers in March of 2011. They are currently milking 135 cows with the robots. This workshop will cover the Ruegemer family’s decision-making process to start milking with robots, the purchase and installation process, and modifications they made to the system. Peter will also discuss the economic and labor benefits the family has seen, and their overall experience with the system.
