Sandhill Family Farms has grown over the course of 15 years from a 70-member vegetable CSA to a year-round multi-farm enterprise serving more than 600 families in the Chicago area. Learn from these experienced farmers how to scale up a farm enterprise, with attention on production, management, and the family farm business model.

Peg and Matt Sheaffer started Sandhill Organics 15 years ago in East Troy, Wis. In 2004, their business found a new home at Prairie Crossing, a conservation community in Grayslake, Ill. In 2010, they purchased a second farm in Brodhead, Wis. and established a partnership with the Miller family. By working together, they have been able to expand production without compromising their commitment to quality, to their customers, and most importantly, to their young children.
