Saturday Session III
“Organic” has come to mean a lot of things—an ecological system of agriculture, safe and healthy food, a government-regulated label, a profitable market to sustain the family farm, a movement, a way of life. It is also a philosophy. Explore the roots of organic thought and where it might lead us in the future.
Jim Riddle has been a leading voice for organic agriculture for over 30 years. He was founding chair of the International Organic Inspectors Association and former chair of the USDA National Organic Standards Board. He manages organic research grants for the Ceres Trust, and owns Blue Fruit Farm near Winona, Minn.
