Workshop audio recordings from the 2014 MOSES Organic Farming Conference.

Dave Campbell, Lily Lake Organic Farm
Friday III – 4 p.m.
Effective weed control is generally regarded as by far the number one challenge facing organic field crop farmers as well as a strong deterrent in keeping non-organic farmers from switching their farms over to organic production. Successful field crop production requires effective as well as consistent weed control. Both annual and perennial weeds present their own issues and will need to be managed differently. An aggressive approach to weed removal compared to minimizing tillage for weed control will present opportunities as well as challenges for both beginner as well as seasoned crop farmers. Mechanical weed control equipment along with the use of cover crops and crop rotations will be discussed in regards to effective weed management.
