Ayla Graden-Dodge and Chris Burkhouse
Saturday Session III

Farmers Ayla and Chris tell their “farm stories,” sharing what it takes to build a successful farm business, move a farm operation, integrate family, and meet the demands of a changing marketplace. They will share their passion for and commitment to farming, as well as a pragmatic approach to the realities of a farming lifestyle. This workshop is guaranteed to inspire any new farmer to get out there and make their dreams happen.

Ayla Graden-Dodge and her husband own Blackbrook Farm in Amery, Wis. Together they grow 20 acres of vegetables, herbs, and fruit for a 200-member CSA and wholesale through two local farmers’ cooperatives. They also raise hogs and chickens.

Chris Burkhouse and her husband own Foxtail Farm in Osceola, Wis. They train new farmers through their internship program and apprenticeship/incubator program. The Burkhouses market their produce exclusively through a 250-member winter CSA.
