Saturday Session II

Organic seed availability continues to grow, providing more varieties to support success in organic systems. But there are still gaps that are difficult to fill due to regulatory issues, access to germplasm, and lack of funding and education for organic plant breeding and seed production. Learn about the state of organic seed, models that are improving organic seed, and how you can help on your farm and through policy advocacy.

Kristina (Kiki) Hubbard is the director of advocacy and communications for Organic Seed Alliance. She is the lead author of OSA’s State of Organic Seed, 2016. She’s a Wisconsin native who now lives in Missoula, Montana, with her husband and son.

Jared Zystro is the assistant director of research and education at the Organic Seed Alliance, where he manages regional development in California, conducts participatory breeding projects and variety trials, and teaches farmers about seed production and plant breeding.
